Nokia 2 is coming: What we know So far

Nokia has built a new battery that would tackle fast battery consumption in their recently launched Nokia 2.

General Manager (West, East and Central Africa), HMD Global, Mr Joseph Umunakwe, made this known in a statement in Lagos, Tuesday.

Umunakwe said that Nokia 2 battery was built to last for two days.

HMD Global develops and markets smart phones and feature phones under the Nokia brand name.

Umunakwe, said “Nokia phones are associated with great battery life; today, we announce a smart phone that takes it to a whole new level.

“People rely on their phones so much these days with many subconsciously rationing the battery life so they can last the day.

“To make this a reality, every component of the Nokia 2 – from display to battery, chipset to system design – has been engineered to draw as little power as possible’’.

Nokia 2 will be HMD Global’s most affordable Android smartphone, and has gone up for pre-orders. The new Nokia 2 is available to pre-order.

Announced last week, Nokia licensee HMD Global had confirmed that the Nokia 2 will be going on sale global starting mid-November.

The company is yet to reveal an Nigerian price tag of the new Nokia smartphone.

The company is marketing the 4100mAh battery that is claimed to deliver up to 2 days of battery life, and premium design with polycarbonate body and 6000 Series Aluminium frame as the highlights of the smartphone.

Nokia 2 also has a 5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) LTPS display that HMD Global says is best-in-class, with 1:1300 contrast ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

Nokia 2 specifications

The Nokia 2 runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat, and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 SoC (quad-core, clocked up to 1.2GHz) coupled with 1GB of LPDDR3 RAM.

The smartphone sports an 8-megapixel rear autofocus camera with LED flash, and a 5-megapixel front fixed focus camera.

As for storage, the Nokia 2 comes with 8GB of inbuilt storage, which is expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB) in a hybrid dual-SIM configuration.

Connectivity options on the Nokia 2 include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS/ A-GPS, FM radio with RDS, Micro-USB, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Sensors on board include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, digital compass, and proximity sensor.

It measures 143.5×71.3×9.3mm, and is IP52-rated (for drip protection).

It comes in three colour options – Pewter Black with black face and frame, Pewter White with white face, black frame, and Copper, with black face, black back, and copper frame.
