The bidders for 9Mobile acquisition may wait till second week of January 2018 to know the results, as the December 31, 2017 deadline earlier notified by the industry regulator, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) may have been shifted.

A report by the Technology Times indicated that the Barclays Africa, the transaction advisers for 9Mobile sale, have requested an extension of the deadline set to close the deal.

Five companies including rivals, Globacom and Airtel are in the race to acquire 9Mobile after it was offered for sale following N541billion debts owned creditor banks.

Barclays Africa, the Technology Times report says, is expecting to complete the sale of 9Mobile at a date no exceeding January 2015, 2018.
