Clean Energy Innovation Challenge

All On in partnership with Co-Creation Hub, is launching the Clean Energy Innovation Challenge, to facilitate increased access to affordable, reliable and sustainable energy sources for low income households, small and medium scale enterprises, and communities.

The mission

All On is on a mission is to stimulate the development of collaborative partnerships for innovative solutions that facilitate increased access to affordable, reliable and sustainable energy sources in Nigeria.

The Company works with partners to increase access to commercial energy products and services for under-served and un-served off-grid energy markets in Nigeria, with a special focus on the Niger Delta.

The Clean Energy Innovation Challenge aims to unearth and support energy innovators across Nigeria who may have solutions that:

  1. Deliver affordable, reliable and sustainable energy through new sources
  2. Use innovative business models to improve access to clean energy
  3. Use creative financing models to increase access to clean energy
  4. Reduce energy wastage across the value chain
  5. Save cost for producers, distributors or consumers of energy

Prizes

Ten finalists will recieve incubation support and the top 4 ventures will receive pre-seed investment of $10,000 from All On. They will be supported to launch & grow through the CcHUB Incubation Programme.

As part of the Incubation Programme, ventures would be supported to rapidly grow by connecting them to a range of partners that would help increase market access.

Timeline

Launch Call for Ideas:

The partners invite clean energy innovators across Nigeria whose ideas can be supported to scale to submit their entries for the innovation challenge. Entries will be accepted from 11th December 2017 to 2nd February, 2018.

Focus Areas – The Clean Energy Innovation Challenge aims to unearth and support energy innovators across Nigeria who may have solutions that:

  • Deliver affordable, reliable and sustainable energy through new sources
  • Use innovative business models to improve access to clean energy
  • Use creative financing models to increase access to clean energy
  • Reduce energy wastage across the value chain
  • Save cost for producers, distributors or consumers of energy

Shortlist Ideas:

The call for entries closes on February 2, 2018. All entries will be judged and 10 semi-finalists will be shortlisted.

Experts from the tech and energy sectors will shortlist the ideas received to identify the solutions with the best potential to transforming the Nigerian energy landscape and to succeed as a viable business.

Clean Energy Innovation Challenge

Bootcamp and Pitching sesion

At this stage, the innovators responsible for the 10 shortlisted ideas will be invited to a bootcamp where they will be supported to develop their ideas further over a 3 day period.

The culmination of the bootcamp is a pitch session where innovators will be invited to pitch their ideas to the judging panel.

A judging panel will select the top ideas based on their capacity to address the problems that have been identified, their potential impact and the probability of their implementation.

On the same day, the judges will announce the top 4 ideas and the four winners will advance to the incubation programme where they will be supported through an aggregation of resources, expertise, networks and seed funding.

Investment & Incubation Process:

Meanwhile, the top 4 ideas will receive pre-seed investment from All On and will be supported to launch & grow through the CcHUB Incubation Programme.

The remaining 6 shortlisted ideas will also have the opportunity for incubation with CcHUB, enabling them access to product development, distribution and business modeling support to scale and grow their idea.
