In a bid to improving the response time to all form of emergencies in the State, the Lagos State Government is set to commission the LASEMA Response Unit in Ikorodu Road by Fadeyi Bus Stop Onipanu to serve Lagosians in this axis and its environs.
The General Manager, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Mr. Adesina Tiamiyu disclosed this today at the Command and Control Centre Alausa, Ikeja. According to him “the administration of His Excellency, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambide is committed to ensuring safety of lives and properties of Lagosians through creation of additional Response Unit in strategic locations in the State towards sustained intervention to all forms of emergencies/disastrers”.
He further stated that the Unit which has just been completed and equipped, will be commissioned on Wednesday 20th December, 2017 by His Excellency, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode and will serve as Dispatch Centre where personnel and equipment will be deployed from time to time to respond to distress calls thereby adding values to the lives of Lagosians in this axis.
The General Manager noted that the Dispatch Centre on Ikorodu Road will complement the existing dispatch point at the Command and Control Centre Alausa in Ikeja, LASEMA Response Unit at Cappa, Oshodi and the recently commissioned LASEMA Response Unit located at Lekki, by Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge, while efforts is on-going to create more Centres in other parts of the State, thereby reducing the response time to incidents.
Finally, he expressed the need for the General public to partner with the Lagos State Government in mitigating and preventing hazards by ensuring that distress calls on identified hazards are relayed to relevant responders or stakeholders through the emergency toll free line 112/767 so as to make the State a safe haven for Lagosians and investors.
