Techtiary 2017, morale booster for #girlCoders

  • Extraclass.ng wins N1m Taiwo Bankole Ogunyemi prize

Awka, Anambra State based start-up, extraclass.ng, has emerged winner of the N1 million Taiwo Bankole Ogunyemi prize at the Techtiary Forum 2017. This is a morale booster for women/girls in the technology space- developers, start-ups, etc.

The Forum was put together by Paradigm Initiative, a social enterprise, which connects youths with ICT-enabled opportunities.

The Executive Director of Paradigm Initiative, Gbenga Sesan, presenting the N1 million cheque (mock) to the Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Extraclass.ng, Onyinyechi Nmecha, applauded the innovative platform and urged them to work harder; making good use presented by the prize money.

Sesan believes that a big part of the price money would go into building capacity of extraclass.ng to do more in the market place.

The theme of Techtiary Forum 2017 was “Geek Entrepreneur – Beyond Coding” and was held from November 28 to 29, 2017 in Yaba, Lagos.

Nmecha took to Facebook to express her happiness after coming on top pitching along other 30 founders, developers, teams and Co-Founders.

Meanwhile, speakers and panelists at the forum included Damilola Solesi of Smids Animation; Ommo Clark of iBez, Joseph Agunbiade of Budgit, and Anike Lawal of Mamalette.

Other speakers at the event included Olufunbi Falayi, CEO of Lead Space, Sheriff Shittu, founder of Switch! Express and Modupe Arokoyo, founder of Modupe Olobe, amongst others.

The Executive Director of Paradigm Initiative and The Executive Secretary, Lagos State Employment Trust Fund, Akin Oyebode, gave the keynote addresses at the event.
