NITDA Moves To Develop Data Governance Policy for Nigeria

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), has stepped up efforts towards developing a data governance policy for the Country.

 

DGP is a documented set of guidelines for ensuring the proper management of an organization’s of country’s digital information.

 

Such guidelines can involve policies for business process management (BPM) and enterprise risk planning (ERP), as well as security, data quality and privacy.

 

To this end, ITDA is partnering with Microsoft Nigeria and Access Partnership, an international IT consulting firm to develop Data Policy for Nigeria.

 

The process will begin with a workshop in which participants are expected to come up with a draft policy document.

 

The Director General of NITDA, Dr Isa Pantami while commenting during the meeting, expressed appreciation to Microsoft for domesticating its company in Nigeria and also called on other reputable international IT firms to follow suit.

 

Pantami revealed that the step taken by Microsoft is commendable as the company has empowered many Nigerians and also contributed to the growth of her Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
