Not even President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to Benue or Dapuchi attracted the attention of Nigerians on Google this week.

News around mothers’ day, Stephen Hawking Rex Tillerson, Craig Mack, are trending on Google Search Nigeria this week.

On Wednesday, British theoretical physicist, Stephen William Hawking died at the age of 76.

His family reported that he died peacefully at his home in Cambridge in the early hours of the morning, Hawking who was given only a few years to live after being diagnosed with a rare form of motor neurone disease at the age of 22, contributed immensely to science and also wrote several popular science books.

Fans and wellwishers raced to Google to read more about his work.

Former United States Secretary of State, Rex Wayne Tillerson, said in a statement on Monday that the poisoning of an ex-Russian spy and daughter with a nerve agent in Britain is likely to have come from Russia.

As the White House continues to voice its support for Britain, Russian officials have dismissed the British claims as “provocation” and “nonsense.”

Concerned Nigerians took to Google to read Tillerson’s statement, making ‘Rex Tillerson’ a top trending search term.

Craig Mack

American rapper Craig Mack, who is popularly known as one of the artists who laid the foundation of the iconic hip-hop label Bad Boy Records, died on Monday.

According to the New York Daily News, the rapper died of a heart failure at his South Carolina home at the age of 47.

Since the news broke, his labelmates, fans and well-wishers  searched Google to confirm his death making ‘Craig Mack’ a top trending search term.

Mothers Day

As Mother’s Day was celebrated in the United Kingdom on Sunday 11 March, an angry son-in-law named Jason Knight reported that the terrible flowers delivered from a website that were meant to be a gift for his mother-in-law ruined Mother’s Day.

Jason claimed that when he compared the pictures on the website to what he received, it was clearly false advertising.

All activities that had to do with this special day made ‘Mother’s Day’ a top trending search term on Google.
