The second edition of Nigeria Tech Innovation and Telecom Awards (NTITA) may have come and gone but the conversation around it continues.
L-r: ATCOn President, Olusola Teniola; Director, Public Affairs at NCC, Nnamdi Nwokike and Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Science and Technology, Ogunnubi Olukayode, at NTITA 2018.
It was a gathering of Who is Who in the telecommunications industry in the country and others leveraging technology to redefine various sectors they represent.
The President of the Association of Telecommunication Companies of Nigeria (ATCON), Mr. Olusola Teniola, gave a hint on what led to the glamorous award night organised by ATCON in conjunction with InstinctWave Africa, at Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos today, on October 12, 2018.
“It is vividly clear that the Nigerian telecommunications and ICT sector has faced a number of challenges ranging from multiple taxation, foreign direct investment issues, right of way issues, multiple regulation and a host of others.
“Despite all these challenges our members are not found wanting in the discharge of delivering quality telecommunication services to Nigerians.
(L-r): President, Association of Telecommunication Companies of Nigeria (ATCON), Mr. Olusola Teniola; MD/CEO of Broadbased Communications Ltd (BBC), Prince Henry Iseghohi, and Group Executive Director at Broadbased Communications Ltd., Mr. Chris Erewele Snr, at the NTITA 2018 ceremony.
“It is on this basis that ATCON thought fit to reward and appreciate individuals and organizations in the sector that have continued to provide seamless communications services to Nigerians regardless of the environment in which they are operating.
“You will also note that the telecoms landscape is forever changing and ATCON recognises this by newer categories of awards.
Why ATCON aligned with the award ceremony:
“ATCON will continue to advocate for an enabling environment that promotes its teeming members’ businesses. The focal points of this initiative are as follows:
To promote a healthy competition in the Nigerian telecom industry
To create further sustainable investment for the sector and protect any member’s current investment portfolio
To give the most authoritative and recognized awards towards innovative, deserving individuals and organizations
The decors inspired a relaxed atmosphere and celebration mood.
