Pantami in Turkey, parleys govt on five key ICT related issues



Building on the fact that Nigeria, Turkey bilateral trade volume stands above $489,73 Million US Dollars, the Minister of Communications, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami led a high powered delegation to hold bilateral discussion with representatives from the Turkish Government.

Pantami and the Turkish Minister learnt that Dr. Pantami led the Nigerian delegation to discuss five key ICT issues; they are:

  1. Capacity Development (Scholarship for Nigerian Students);
  2. National Information Security System Platform for SIM and Mobile registration using digital identity;
  3. Cybersecurity;
  4. e-Government development and
  5. Broadband penetration.


The gathering, our correspondent learnt, held at the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, Ankara, Turkey, in attendance was, the Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Mehmet Cahit Turhan; Nigeria Ambassador to Turkey H.E Iliyasu Audu Paragalda; Director General, National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Mr Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, representative of Oracle, among others.

At the end of discussions, a technical joint committee was set up.

The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also extended his regards to his Nigerian counterpart, His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari.
