CcHub launches EdTech Centre of Excellence at Tai Solarin University of Education

Co-creation Hub (CcHUB), the leading technology innovation centre in Nigeria and Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Nigeria’s Premier University of Education unveils the EdTech Centre of Excellence at the Institution.

The centre is a first of its kind academic research centre aimed at accelerating research and development in the application of technology for teaching, learning and management of education in Africa.

The launch will see the centre make significant contributions to research in e-learning and technology application in schools and classrooms.

This is one of many strategic investments in an extensive ecosystem by CcHUB this year. In addition to set up and programmatic funding support, CcHUB will sponsor MSc and PhD students working on advancing EdTech topics that are of interest to re:learn.

TASUED will lead innovation and advocacy for improved teacher training programmes across Nigeria to cater to the demands of digitally compliant classrooms and new teaching methods.

To define its scope of work, the centre will have a set of research focus defined at its inception which will be initiated by CcHUB while TASUED will provide academic leadership and share relevant knowledge for the benefits of multiple stakeholders in Nigeria and globally.

Speaking on the development, the CEO at CcHUB, ‘Bosun Tijani, says, “Education is the bedrock of healthy societies. As we continue to contribute to shaping the innovation ecosystem in Africa, accelerating the application of science and technology in improving education outcomes will be crucial to driving our overall agenda”.

Also speaking, Director ICT at TASUED, Ademola Adenubi, expressed his delight on realising the dream of the EduTech project.

He further mentioned the development of the University’s web-portal and the lessons learned during the development phases by the institution’s newly formed Developer Group.

Launched in 2016, the CcHUB’s education practice, re:learn, an umbrella initiative for all CcHUB education schemes has leveraged technology to educate the next generation and educators, one of which is the GOGA Project by European Commission under the Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Funding Scheme to accelerate the adoption of richer learning environments and improved learning outcomes in science and technology, by deploying contextually engaging digital content and the capacity development of teachers across Africa.

In January 2018, CcHUB instituted the AUIA program to accelerate the contribution of African Universities to knowledge application for a better society.
