The hierarchy of the society formally presented the paraphernalia of office to Engr. Dr Ekuwem at an investiture ceremony which took place on Saturday 9th November 2019 at the EEMJM Hotel, Uyo.

The Ikot Ekpene Branch President of the Society, Engr Uduak Essien who decorated Dr Ekuwem with the Fellowship paraphernalia said the investiture was in recognition of Dr Ekuwem’s numerous contributions to the growth of the profession and development of society.
The NSE National President, Engr Adekunle Mokuolu, in his remark said the conferment of the fellowship award on Dr. Ekuwem was meritorious and deserving, noting that it was long overdue given Dr. Ekuwem’s indispensable role in the advancement of the profession.
Further adducing reason for the conferment of the prestigious award on Dr. Ekuwem, the President of Ikot Ekpene Branch of the NSE, Engr. Uduak Essien, remarked:
“We are here to give honour to whom honour is due; to award the fellowship on the Secretary to the Akwa Ibom State government, a man who has contributed so much to the development of Engineering profession in Nigeria.
“He did not only contribute to the establishment and inauguration of Ikot Ekpene Branch, he has remained one of the prime financiers of the branch till today.
“He is one man who has presented so many technical papers in Engineering at different fora to enhance the development of the profession.
“He has sponsored so many engineers to attend workshops, seminars and conferences within and outside the country. We are here to give honour to somebody who has distinguished himself in the telecommunications industry, someone that, when the state government was looking for a technocrat to run the affairs of government, he was the one chosen to serve as the Secretary to the State Government.
“A recipient of more than one hundred awards and chieftaincy titles, he has received so many fellowship awards. I think the one that is so pronounced is the one that was given to him by the of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo in 2001 for his outstanding performance and contribution to Engineering development.”
In his response, the conferee, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem said he was elated by the recognition of his contributions to the growth of the body, noting that he sees the honour as a call to more duty and commitment to the ideals of promoting engineering and serving humanity for societal development.
He further acknowledged the state Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel for the opportunity given him to serve as the SSG while also lauding the governor for the numerous strides recorded in industrialization and provision of critical infrastructure including the second run way project at the Victor Attah International Airport.
Ekuwem who attributed his success in life to God advised anyone who wishes to progress in life to look up to God as the foundation of every good thing.
It would be recalled that the conferment had taken place October in Abuja, nationally. Dr Ekuwem’s inability to personally attend the conferment necessitated the National President’s visit to Uyo to present to Dr Ekuwem the remaining paraphernalia and oversee his investiture.
