Paylink backs Lagos SME Bootcamp, to host 500 small businesses

Paylink, the secure and instant web-based funds collection platform, is the sponsor of the 2020 edition of the annual Lagos SME Bootcamp which is set to host more than 500 Small and Medium-scale Enterprises (SMEs) across Nigeria.

The event, which would hold fully online for the first time, would empower SMEs with key capabilities that would help owners and managers maximise relevant technology, reduce the risks of failure, and reposition for strategic growth and sustainability.

The Lagos SME Bootcamp will hold on Saturday, July 25, 2020, from 11:00 am. While participation is free, attendees are required to register on the organiser’s website.

The event will expose participants to competitive tactics and spur them to adopt innovative strategies to thrive in a dynamic business environment.

Nigeria Computer Society ready for (virtual) 11th International Conference – Prof. Sodiya

The National Executive Council (NEC), Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), working with the Conferences Committee, today announced the readiness to host the eleventh (11th) International Conference.

NCS is dubbed the biggest and premier professional association in Nigeria’s tech sector. It is the umbrella body of all IT professionals, interest groups and stakeholders in Nigeria.  

With about 15,000 members, spread across all the states of the federation, NCS remains the only national IT society with highly-skilful and dependable domain experts in various fields of Information Technology.

Speaking during a virtual press briefing about the upcoming NCS International conference, the President, Professor Adesina Sodiya, a fellow of NCS, said that with major interest groups including; ISPON, ITAN, NiWIIT, ITSSP, AITP, NITPCS and structural organs; College of Fellows, Chapters, NACOSS, the Association remains committed to promoting and leapfrogging IT development in Nigeria.

He described the International Conference is the biggest and most influential IT event in Nigeria.

He announced that the Conference will hold from Tuesday 11th to Thursday 13th of August 2020 virtually, with the theme “Emerging Applications and Technologies for Industry 4.0 (EATI 2020)”.

“In the last forty-two years of NCS existence, our conference venue has been rotated amongst the six geopolitical zones in the Country. Even the 2020 conference was initially scheduled to hold in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State before the pandemic. Interestingly, this is the first time NCS will be holding virtual Conference in the history of this society.

“The challenge posed by COVID-19 reaffirms the need for Information Technology Professionals to change their strategies.  Infact, Covid-19 has introduced a new normal paradigm shift which the whole is currently battling with.

“The theme of the conference was carefully and scientifically chosen in order to provide the needed technological supports for industries in this modern society. Industry 4.0 or the Fourth Industrial revolution is simply about smart manufacturing. ‘The Elevation Church’ set to hold virtual conferences for kids, teenagers

Frontline non-denominational Christian ministry, The Elevation Church (TEC), is set to equip teenagers with requisite skills and capacity through its annual teen conference, ‘Navigate’.

Themed “STAND”, this year’s conference is free, solely online and will kick-off today, Saturday 1st August at 4pm with a pre-conference online party.

The main conference comprising of plenaries, issue-based breakout sessions, parents’ breakout sessions and over 18 vocational skills classes such as graphics design, baking, music production, writing, cinematography, French for beginners, web design, animation, entrepreneurship and many more, will hold at 4pm each day from Saturday 8th to Saturday 29th August and thereafter culminate on Sunday 30th August.

Similarly, children 12 years and younger are not left out as TEC has put together a virtual Vacation Bible School (VBS) which will run from Wednesday 5th to Friday 7th August from 10am to 1pm daily.

This edition is themed “Breakout: Escape from Ordinary to Extraordinary” and is poised to teach children solid Christian principles to guide them through life and aim for excellence in everything they do. This is also a free event and parents can register their wards vis this LINK.

According to the Lead Pastor and founder of TEC, Godman Akinlabi, “The global pandemic – COVID-19 – has been a major disruptor for everyone regardless of age. For the younger generation, we have particularly observed disruption in schoolwork, exams and other progressive plans; holidays for some, and work experience opportunities for others.”

He pointed out that the programmes set aside for the Navigate Conference have been specifically designed to manage some of these challenges.  

“The programmes will help harness their inner strengths, build new skills, stand for positive influence and be change agents in their respective spaces. They are also some of the ways the church has continued to keep alive our commitment to make positive social impact across all demographics, despite the ongoing pandemic,” he said.

The Elevation Church has been set up by God to develop members to be witnesses for Christ and empower them to achieve the highest levels of distinction and greatness in life.
