If you have heard about the TECNO Pouvoir 4 Pro, then the first thing that comes to mind is its powerful 6,000mAh battery.
That’s right the smartphone can last for 3 days of constant use. So if you are planning to buy a good smartphone that ticks all the boxes, the Pouvoir 4 Pro is the right device to get.

The first thing you notice about the TECNO Pouvoir 4 Pro is its captivating box. TECNO is still on its journey with bold-coloured packaging. This eye-catching design is that kind that instantly tells your neighbour you just launched a new smartphone. However, the new Pouvoir 4 Pro’s stunning yellow and turquoise blue box is the same as the earlier released Spark 5. The only difference you will notice is that while the Spark 5 blends the colours diagonally, the Pouvoir 4 Pro blends horizontally. Again, just like Spark 5, the Pouvoir 4 comes with the engraved symbols of Pouvoir 4, to show what phone you’ve got in your hands.
Pouvoir 4 Pro Cameras
The Pouvoir 4 Pro comes with an AI Quad Camera, which means you have 4 cameras in one for crystal clear photos with elaborate details. These include a 16MP primary lens, 5MP (2.5cm) Macro Lens, 2MP Bokeh Lens, and QVGA lens. There’s also a Quad Flash setup for taking low light photos. It’s also paired with an f/1.8 big aperture, 8X digital zoom, 77o shooting angles and 115o wide-angle lens, which means you can take wide-angle photos flawlessly.
On the front, you have a 16MP AI Selfie Camera with F/2.0 big aperture, 81o selfie angle, and dual front flash that solves the problems of taking breathtaking photos at any time.
TECNO Pouvoir 4 Pro Design
TECNO’s still keeping its trademark, polycarbonate skin, and the Pouvoir 4 Pro looks pretty much like its predecessor. Even so, textural gradient design isn’t so different from the earlier released Spark 5 or the Camon 15. However, we can’t complain about the design because it is still as eye-catching as ever and precisely an aesthetically superior design.
Perhaps the only way to differentiate between the Pouvoir 4 Pro and the newly released Camon 15 is its size. While the Pouvoir 4 Pro comes with a bigger display, the Camon 15 and Spark 5 are more compact and comfortable to hold.
However, as a firm lover of a 7-inch device, the Pouvoir 4 Pro is a much-preferred choice for me. This device is even longer than its predecessor the Pouvoir 3 Plus, which is only about 6.33 inches. Off-course, you still get the trademark fingerprint scanner and the Pouvoir label at the rear end.
At the base, we still get the usual USB, headphones, charging ports and speaker grills, just the way we like it
But we shouldn’t forget the latest feature in this spot – dual stereo speakers. TECNO decided to up the ante on sound by adding dual stereo speakers paired with digital sound effects to corrects all sound effects, so you enjoy a high-quality immersive entertaining experience, whether you are playing out loud or using your headphones.
To the left of the Pouvoir 4 Pro, you will find the power and volume buttons following the regular pattern.
However, TECNO’s changed the design of the volume buttons so you can have more for your gameplay. The volume buttons can be customized to act as the “Fire” key when playing games.
The right side has dual sim card slot which doubles as the memory card slot. But, there’s a new addition- a dedicated textured orange button for Google Voice Assistant for folks in love with using voice commands to do amazing things.
Like all TECNO Smartphones, the Pouvoir 4 Pro comes with a pair of earpiece, warranty card (don’t lose it as it might be handy), and neutral encasements. Also, worthy to note is its 18W Charger, which is a step-up from the regular 10W Charger.
After the device has been fully charged for about 2 hours, we had a swell time watching movies and playing games. With over 12 hours of movie time, this device is truly remarkable. Gamers will equally enjoy over 10 hours give or take which is entirely higher than anything you could expect with any other smartphone. And even more, if your smartphone is meant for smaller activities like WhatsApp, text and calls, you can expect up to 3 days of battery power and paired with its 18W speed charge, there’s nothing more you could ask for.
So, the best part of the Pouvoir 4 Pro that we saw is its 6,000mAH battery which lasts up to 3 or 4 days for light users and about 14 hours on heavy use.
The 18W fast charging and dual stereo speakers are all welcome additions on the Pouvoir 4 Pro especially at this price segment. The 2.0GHz Octa-Core Mediatek Helio P22 paired with 4GB of RAM/64GB of ROM works a lot faster than its predecessors. It also comes with the 4LTE connectivity and the perks of the Android 10 with a new HiOS Skin. With lots of RAM space and battery power, the Pouvoir 4 Pro performs a lot better than its predecessors.
At a price of N64,500 for the pro version and N54,500 for the base model, the Pouvoir 4 Series is just the perfect budget-friendly smartphone at the moment.
Spark 5 Unboxing review: Five cameras, good battery life
Barely a year after the release of Spark 4, TECNO launched the Spark 5 in Nigeria. This time around, the Spark 5 comes with five cameras in total with a massive 6.6 HD Screen and 5000mAh battery that lasts more than a day of heavy use.
In this unboxing review, we will take a look at its key features.
TECNO Spark 5 Key Specifications
- Display: 6.6-inch IPS LCD, 720 X 1600 pixels (266PPI)
- Rear Camera: 13MP + 2MP + 2MP + QVGA
- Selfie Camera: 8MP with dual LED
- OS: Android 10 ( HiOS 6.1)
- Processor: 2.0 GHz Octa-Core MediaTek Helio A22 Processor (12nm)
- RAM: 2GB
- ROM: 32GB internal memory, with Memory card slot
- Battery: 5,000mAh non-removable battery (Fast Charging)
- 4G LTE: Yes
- Other features: Fingerprint Identification, USB Type C
- Available colors: Spark Orange, Ice Jadeite, Vacation Blue, Misty Grey
The first thing you see once you get your hands on the TECNO Spark 5 package is the eye-catching box. Like other phones released under the Spark flagship, TECNO is still using vibrant and bold colors that stick to the hearts of users.
The paper encasement this time is a stunning turquoise blue and yellow box with the name Spark and the number 5 engraved in the middle.
The other end of the box shows some unique features of the Spark 5. On the box too, you can see the new TECNO Spark 5 retains the dot-in display feature that guarantees an immersive multi-media experience.
Spark 5 Quad Camera
Unlike its predecessors, TECNO splurged on the Spark 5 with a unique 4 rear camera setup (13MP +2MP+ 2MP +QVGA). This, I believe, is the real reason you should opt for the Spark 5, as it is a step up from the AI-triple camera setup of the Spark 4.
The 13MP primary camera comes with an f/1.8 aperture for taking clear and natural photos, while the first 2MP macro camera makes crystal clear close-up shots.
The other 2MP depth camera is for TECNO’s much loved AI bokeh effect, and the QVGA gives lovely photos in low light.
All of these are paired with a Quad-LED flash for better low-light images. Combined together, the design and camera are just perfect for a low-priced phone.
The end-to-end stunning visual display is just so impressive. Even more, TECNO switched its teardrop design for the less obtrusive dot-in display.
We already saw this with the Camon 12 Air, but it’s a welcome addition on the Spark Series. So, we can watch all kinds of movies while taking full advantage of the 6.6inch screen display.
Sure, this does not in any way mean that the selfie camera is out. In fact, this tiny hole on the screen houses an 8MP Camera plus dual-LED flash for beautiful selfie photos.
The two-color elaborate textural blends of the new Spark 5, is gorgeous. And, paired with TECNO’s trademark, polycarbonate skin, the Spark 5 is satisfyingly beautiful and an eye-catching device you just want to have for yourself.
However, this isn’t the first time we are seeing this visual design as the Camon 15 equally had this intricate premium finish.
Compared to its predecessor, the Spark 5 is bigger than the Spark 4 at 6.6 inches. The fingerprint off-course remains in the same convenient space as before. The Spark 5 is also a bit bulkier than its predecessor but still comfortable and sturdy to hold.
At the base, you will find the usual USB, headphones port, and speaker grills.
On the left-hand side of the TECNO Spark 5, is the power button underneath the volume button which is quite unique this time around as it comes in red colour.
The right-hand side features the dual-sim card slot, which also works as the memory card slot. There’s also a tiny pin to help get the tray out.
As expected, the Spark 5 comes with 4G LTE connectivity. However, the chipset is the same as the predecessor, and so most people would expect that the device has the same level of performance.
However, with the new HiOS skin and the benefits of the Android 10, the Spark 5 performance is slightly better than the usual.
The bigger battery life is also a welcome addition. Now, one can enjoy over 6-8 hours of heavy use on a Spark phone.
The Spark 5 comes with the trademarked TECNO spark charger, earpiece, and warranty (don’t lose it as it might come in handy). Also added is a tiny pin for bringing out the SIM tray.
Also, in the pack is a beige translucent plastic phone cover to keep the TECNO Spark 5 free from scratches. It’s so lovely that the casing can absorb most of the shock when it falls to the ground.
However, I’ve never really liked the neutral phone encasements, would have loved having a black or bold printed cover (just saying though).
The TECNO Spark 5 comes as a worthy upgrade to its predecessors-a total of five cameras, comes with an improved 5000mAh battery, an immersive 6.6-inch Dot-in display, and an updated Android 10 operating system.
The TECNO Spark 5 is available across all retail outlets in Nigeria at a starting price of N49,000
[REVIEW] Your journey will even get better with My Passort 4TB hard drive
My opening to read this article, it shows you need no education on how useful external drives are. You just want the best product with enough space; serving you seamlessly.
Truly, there are a number of cloud-based storage services like Dropbox, One drive, Google Drive etc. People are finding it a very good solution to store their data using cloud-based storage. Indeed, it is a convenient way to store your data.
But there is a limit for this amazing technology and the services which goes to show the fact that external hard drives have still a major importance in our journey.
At this juncture, let me introduce you to yet another super external hard drive from Western Digital – My Passport. Yeah, like the saying goes, ‘Every journey needs a passport’ and My Passport compliments the journey even better.
Why My Passport?
Well, here is a trusted, portable storage drive that offers a user the confidence and freedom to drive forward in life. A sort of use-on-the-go product for you.
With a new, stylish design that fits in the palm of your hand, there’s space to store, organize, and share your photos, videos, music, and documents.
I got My Passport 4TB drive here; perfectly paired with WD Backup software and password protection, the My Passport drive helps keep your digital life’s contents safe.
Let’s look at this product in details:
Slim style that fits in your bad
I know you wouldn’t want a drive that will make you feel you are carrying a load moving about. This new MyPassport has been redesigned to feature a convenient, slim form factor and is available in a range of vibrant colors.
Backed up mad easy
Where are the pictures you took the last time you attended a picnic? How about some of your file? Certificates? Oh, yes, they are stocked in the drawal, but you need some of these documents on the go! Photos, videos, music, and documents – doesn’t get lost with MyPassport. The beauty of it is that the gadget comes equipped with WD Backup software; which you can configure to run automatically to your schedule. Just pick the time and frequency to back up important files from your system onto your MyPassport drive.
Good for content developers
With MyPassport, your digital life becomes even simplier. How? For instance, as a content developer, sometimes, you need to make reference to previous articles, images, photos, graphs, illustrations, links, etc., you do not have to always go back to the cloud to download. With MyPassport, you are good to go!
Interestingly, MyPassport has password protection and built-in 256-bit AES hardware encryption.
Just activate password protection and set your own personalized password using WD Discovery.
MyPassport portable storage is ready right out of the box including all necessary cables. And with SuperSpeed USB, you can quickly start backing up everything in your life and keep driving forward.
Social friendly and secured
MyPassort comes with WD Discovery software. (You can know more about this software HERE). It lets you connect to popular social media and cloud storage services like Facebook, Dropbox, and Google Drive.
Seamlessly import, organize, and share your photos, videos, and docs to the My Passport drive to backup your online social life. WD Discovery can also manage your drive through WD Drive Utilities™.
There’s no telling what’s ahead in your own journey. That’s why WD builds drives to demanding requirements for durability and long-term reliability. On top of that, it comes with a 3-year limited warranty.
The plugin or USB cord is topnotch. At times, you hear people complain that when you try to ‘safely remove’ the USB of drives or an external hard drive of some OEMs from a computer, you witness glitches. MyPassport is different because WD seems to have taken into cognizance that it might slip while in use; probably you lifted your laptop not remembering that the drive is plugging in. You need not worry so much because your file won’t suffer damages. This is also why is important to save frequently while working on a document.
Also, to avoid a permanent data loss from a drive after unsafely unplugging, use the WD Recovery wizard to make an instant recovery.
Well, others may have three-year LIMITED warranty, but WD offers new MyPassport to Nigerians with two-year warranty.
Price and availability
On Amazon you are likely to get MyPassport 4TB at $109.99, which is approximately N40,000. But on Jumia Nigeria, it sells for N36,400. So, where would you place your order? The choice is yours.
There are outlets selling MyPassport, especially Western Digital Approved distributors and resellers. You can get their contact as shared in our previous review.
As clearly stated earlier and in spite of the growing popularity of cloud-based storages, the external hard drives are still very significant in our business and/or personal life journey. MyPassport offers great storage device solution to Nigerians, especially small businesses and individuals like students who can’t afford to pay for cloud solutions. Although, there are free cloud solutions to save your documents, but when the space is full, what next?
