Google indicator: IPv6 user adoption reached 33.42 per cent on August 1

Statistics coming from Google indicates that, for the first time, Internet Protocol Version Six (IPv6) user adoption reached 33.42%, TechEconomy.ng can report.

Google collects statistics about IPv6 adoption in the Internet on an ongoing basis.

“We hope that publishing this information will help Internet providers, website owners, and policy makers as the industry rolls out IPv6”.

The graph shows the percentage of users that access Google over IPv6.

​The chart above shows the availability of IPv6 connectivity around the world.

  • Regions where IPv6 is more widely deployed (the darker the green, the greater the deployment) and users experience infrequent issues connecting to IPv6-enabled websites.
  • Regions where IPv6 is more widely deployed but users still experience significant reliability or latency issues connecting to IPv6-enabled websites.
  • Regions where IPv6 is not widely deployed and users experience significant reliability or latency issues connecting to IPv6-enabled websites.

Unfortunately, the figures are not looking ‘green’ yet in Africa. See map below:
