The Federal Government has admitted that the tweets ordering Nigerians who opened accounts with financial institutions in the country, must embark on another round of Know Your Customer (KYC) registration, were misleading.
To this end, the government has apologized about the completion of the self-certification forms order, disclosing the main concerned people are not all Nigerians.
Here is the latest tweet:
We apologize for the misleading tweets (now deleted) that went up yesterday, regarding the completion of self-certification forms by Reportable Persons. The message contained in the @firsNigeria Notice does not apply to everybody. FIRS will issue appropriate clarification shortly pic.twitter.com/KBiPh0lCwJ— Government of Nigeria (@NigeriaGov) September 18, 2020
Recall that Nigerians on social media slammed the Self-Certification forms order, saying it was ill-timed and may spark increase in covid-19 cases should people rush to the banks to fill the forms.
