OAU prepares for fourth Hult Prize

For the fourth consecutive time, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU)) will be hosting the largest students’ competition-​​ Hult Prize- with one of the best and largest organizing committees in the world.

With more than 100,000 undergraduates and postgraduates from over 3,000 schools involved, the Hult Prize in partnership with United Nations, Clinton Global Initiative, Hult International Business School and Unikorn is the world’s largest start-up for social entrepreneurs.

“The winner of the intra-campus event will automatically advance to compete in one of the 25 regional finals happening around the world”, says the Campus Director, Emmanuel Ajayi in a press release sent to

The goal is to reach the Accelerator in London where 6 teams will finally be selected to proceed to New York and pitch before competent judges with one team winning $1 million.

The theme for Hult-Prize’21 is “Food for Good- Transforming food into a vehicle for change.”

“This challenge”, according to the Assistant Campus Director, Agboola Peace, “will create jobs, stimulate economies, reimagine supply chains and improve outcomes for 10 million people by 2030”.

The competition is open to all BSc, MSC and Ph.D students of OAU.

“They are expected to form a team of 3-4 students each and come up with their business idea to pitc to top judges firstly at the preliminary happening between October 25- November 8, 2020 and then qualified teams will pitch at the Grand Finale on 15th of November, 2020”, added the Head of Public Relations, Ayoola Oluwatimilehin.

As stated by this year’s Campus Director, Blessing Emmanuel Ajayi, “OAU has two major goals this year:

“To produce winning teams that can compete at the Global finals and  to organize the biggest event on campus that will attract up to 5000 attendees virtually,” the Head of Content Creation, Babalola Moyinoluwa, said.

With over 21 rock star judges on the panel, amazing speakers, sponsors, partners, and ever-dedicated volunteers, this year’s event is set to be a glorious one leading a new wave of entrepreneurs to change the world.
