Buhari seeks powers from House of Reps to freeze accounts of money launderers

In his furtherance fight against corruption in Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, October 14, sent a bill to the House of Representatives.

In the bill, President Buhari wanted the federal lawmakers to grant the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) the powers to freeze accounts allegedly holding proceeds of crime and go hard on money launderers.

Techeconomy.ng gathered that the bill was contained in a letter read by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.

Gbajabiamila read the letter to the house during plenary on Wednesday, at the National Assembly complex in Abuja.
