Aside from visiting orphanages in Lagos during the covid-19 pandemic, the Executive Board of Directors of the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA) approved the support to its Accredited Registrars of granting credit facility to interested registrars with payment challenges.
NiRA Academy also hosted several free webinars to teach people how to survive during and post the covid-19 era.
We are all aware that with the COVID-19 pandemic, many businesses needed to be online, especially the small businesses.
So, every act of kindness/support/business idea was appreciated by the small businesses. By supporting these small businesses, NiRA is essentially strengthening local communities, Nigerians and keeping these businesses booming within Nigeria.
NiRA sliced the price of fresh registration of non-premium .ng domain name at the second level, depending on the category of the registrar, by more than 50% to NiRA Accredited Registrars and mandated participating NiRA Accredited registrars to offer non-premium .ng domain names to registrants by slicing and capping the price for fresh registrations by about a third of the usual price.
Both the Nigerian and foreign NiRA Accredited Registrars are participating in the .ng promo. The .ng promo commenced on the 24th of August 2020 and would end in November 2020.
NiRA with its accredited registrars has embarked on promotional campaigns with the offer price of non-premium .ng domain names at the second level, with advertisements on all classes of media (print media, broadcast media, outdoor (adverts on BRT buses) and on the Internet). The social media platforms are agog with the .ng promo.
These promotional activities have been replicated by media practitioners across the country.
The .ng promo has heightened the awareness of the Nigerian Online Identity, the .ng brand and the registration of .ng domain names has increased.
The .ng promo has provided the opportunity to reach a wider audience due to the buzz created and introduced the .ng brand to many more Nigerians.
Lagosians are delighted with the reintroduction of the .ng brand adverts on the BRT buses plying the routes of Lagos.
With the advent of the covid-19 pandemic, NiRA provides palliative in the ecosystem and encourages/gets new businesses to be online. We have noticed an increased number of domains at the 2nd level, providing the opportunity to reduce the price of .ng domain names. We also have more registrars in promoting the .ng brand.
Of course, we all know that with more Nigerians registering .ng domain names and hosting their websites locally, there is a reduction in capital flight and an increase in economic empowerment of Nigerians.
We invite all to take advantage of the promo to register .ng domains.
