The premiere Institute of Information Management in Africa, IIM-Africa is celebrating its 10-year anniversary this month, with a large group of enthusiastic and the most talented professional members in the data and information management industry across the globe.

In contrast to the pre-covid wisdom, most organisations, executives and government agencies now recognize and identified with the need for effective data and information management to maximum revenue growth and disaster recovery which cannot be attained without adequate information governance structure being put in place.

Increasing acceptance among business leaders that data and information management is the single greatest differentiator bodes well for the Institute of Information Management as the institute positions itself for significant growth over the next ten years.

As effective data governance strategy becomes more essential for the survival and sustenance of government and businesses owing to the increasing importance of data and information management, imposition of various data and information regulations coupled with sudden COVID-19 Pandemic.

The Institute of Information Management was founded by Records and Information Management Awareness (RIMA) Foundation to guide organisations and businesses on the actions necessary to accelerate growth and ensure that the right policies, processes, technology, and people are in place to effectively manage the organization’s data assets while complying with legal and regulatory requirements.

Over the past decade, Institute of Information Management has partnered with progressive organizations across the globe to elevate the field of data and information management, enhance professional career prospects, seek relevant recognitions for both individual and corporate members, for maximum membership benefits.

In fact, since the institute’s inception, numerous members have benefited from series of local and international training programs, certifications, lessons learned, job and project connections and other networking opportunities, in furtherance of their professional career development at various institute’s chapters in different Countries.

Reflecting on 10 years of our existence, the President and Chairman in Council, Amb-Dr. Oyedokun Ayodeji Oyewole said, “To the glory of God, I take great pride in what we have been able to achieve over the last decade. For me, the significance of this milestone is more than just keeping the lights on.

It means our members, affiliates, partners, patrons and other stakeholders believe the work we do is valuable. Importantly, it validates the necessity of a focused professional platform like the institute of information management.

The Institute has also been very fortunate to find a talented group of employees, professionals, and members who have been instrumental in our success. I have never been more optimistic about the future of the institute.”

In response to celebrating its 10th Anniversary, several members and stakeholders have offered congratulatory messages to the Institute.

As part of its 10 Year Anniversary celebration, the Institute of Information Management will be hosting the 2020 National Summit, Induction and Investiture ceremony with the theme: “e-Government, Digital Economy & Records Management: Assessing Government Readiness on Electronic Document Management & Digitization Post COVID-19”.

Dignitaries expected to grace the occasion include the head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folasade Omolara Yemi–Esan, Major-General Garba Sani Abdullahi of the Nigerian Army, Managing Director of Zinox Computers, CEO/Founder, Zinox Technologies, Mr. Leonard Stanley Ekeh, Director/Managing Partner – Data Analytics Privacy Technology Ltd (DAPT), Amb. Olusegun Olugbile, Former Head of Archives, First Bank Nigeria, Mrs Oyebo, Yemisi Grace and hosts of other high profile dignitaries in the Industry.

Other activities lined-up for the event include the conferment of IIM Fellowship on individuals, who have made remarkable and substantial contributions over the years to the development of Information Management and Technology.

The Honorary Fellows is conferred on professionals with backgrounds outside of Information Management field but are identified as having made significant contributions that impact on the profession and the society or the Institute. Other categories of inductees include Graduate, Associate, Professional, Senior Professional and Corporate Membership grades.

The climax of the event will be the anniversary Awards & Dinner, which is expected to bring the occasion a close later in the day.
