Dr. Ayotunde Coker has been awarded a “Distinguished Manufacturing Alumnus Award” for 2020, the Cranfield University’s highest (Alumni) honour.
Dr. Coker is the Managing Director of Rack Centre; a Lagos, Nigeria based Tier III carrier neutral state of the art data centre offering colocation, content distribution, interconnect and cloud services.
Interestingly, Dr. Coker graduated from the University in 1989 with MSc. Engineering and Management of Manufacturing Systems.
The Cranfield Manufacturing Alumni Awards recognise special achievements and contributions of alumni and provide Cranfield with an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate those who exemplify the values of Cranfield in the areas of manufacturing, materials and design.
TechEconomy.ng also gathered that the Alumni Awards allow Cranfield Manufacturing to showcase the impact of Cranfield globally and highlight the accomplishments of individuals who may serve as role models to other alumni, students and potential students.
Incidentally, covid prevented an elaborate award ceremony and in December there was a virtual award ceremony.
Nonetheless, in a letter conveying the honour done on Dr. Coker, the Alumni Communications Executive, Alumni Relations and Development, Cranfield University, Jenny Lucas-Hill, congratulated him “on being awarded the Distinguished Manufacturing Alumnus Award for 2020”.
“I and the rest of the team here in the Alumni Relations and Development Office are very much looking forward to meeting you and celebrating your achievements at the Awards Dinner…”
With the award, Dr. Coker has been recognised for ‘sustaining professional achievement at the highest levels’, in terms of technology/engineering leadership, achieving transformational change in an organisation, significant and successful project management, contribution to company profitability, job creation as well as other factors.
Dr, Coker has shown leadership prowess as the pioneer MD of Rack Centre which was founded in 2012 as the only carrier neutral Tier III Constructed Facility Certified data centre in Africa and focuses solely on providing best in class data centre colocation services and unrestricted interconnect between carriers and customers.
