Governor of Sokoto State, Hon Aminu Tambuwal, has disclosed that the cost of governance in Nigeria must be cut down in response to the clamor of youths, civil society groups, and concerned citizens.

Tambuwal made the disclosure at the “December 2020 Emmanuel Chapel, Methodic Church Discourse” which was held in a virtual format in adherence to COVID-19 protocols.

The governor said it was the right step to take but must be done methodically and strategically, to avoid adverse effects on the nation’s economy.

He explained further that the execution is not only for the National Assembly but the Executive Arm of government especially critical governmental parastatal like the Central Bank of Nigeria, Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, and the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).

Tanbuwal maintained that there was a clear need for more fiscal responsibility on the path of government agencies in the country.

Citing his own experience of governance, he added that his administration has taken robust measures to block revenue leakages in Sokoto state and even the local governments.
