Nigeria lost over 500,000 active internet subscriptions in December 2020

But, the country’s Year-on-Year (YoY) broadband penetration between December 2019 (30.80%) and December 2020 (45.02%)stands at 7.22%.

Nigeria’s active Internet subscriptions stood at 154,301,195 as at December 2020. This was disclosed in telecom industry statistics released by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

The figure is lower than 154,878,203 recorded in November 2020.

TechEconomy.ng also gathered that GSM accounts for 153,873,786; fixed wired: 11,468 and VoIP: 415,941.

During the period under review, Nigeria’s broadband penetration slowed by 0.058.

But, the country’s Year-on-Year (YoY) broadband penetration between December 2019 (30.80%) and December 2020 (45.02%)stands at 7.22%.

By implication, Nigeria’s record internet penetration was in October 2020 when it peaked at 45.93%.

TechEconomy.ng had reported that the country’s broadband access-gap clusters have also reduced.
