Yaba is a suburb located on Lagos Mainland, Lagos in Lagos State. Yaba is one of the go-to places for technology renaissance in Africa, with tech startups such as Enextgen Wireless, Hotels.ng, Cc-Hub, PFS, Paga and many others with a positive impact on the economy ecosystem.
There are several federal government institutions in the area, which include Queen’s College, the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research, the Yaba College of Technology, Igbobi College, the University of Lagos, the Federal Science and Technical College, and the Federal College of Education (Technical) Akoka.
The redevelopment of the Tejuosho Market, which was undertaken as part of the Lagos Megacity Project, has transformed it into a major shopping center for Lagosians. So, connectivity in that area is something mobile network operators should consider as important.
Yaba: Evaluated Route
National Independent Wireless Broadband Quality Reporting (NIWBQR) is offered by Enextgen Wireless, Ltd since 2016.
The study was designed to encourage Mobile Network Operators to provide high quality of Radio Frequency coverage for optimum utilization of available spectrum and excellent customer experience.
Previously based on commercial UE logging and post-processing tools, Enextgen now uses what the company called Enextlog for input data and Emetrics for processing and visualization
With that new development they are focusing on a combination of proprietary Radio Frequency (RF) quality ranking (Emetrics) and measurements of results from key applications such as ping and FTP transfers.
“In this report, we assign 50% of the weight of our overall ranking to Emetrics (conducted on 11th August), 20% each to downlink throughput and packet latency and 10% to uplink throughput,”, says the Engineer Aderemy Adeyeye, president, Enext Inc.
“RF quality plays similar role in 4G LTE as the quality of Nigerian roads play in its transportation system and it is just as easy to ignore. As such, it is the primary focus of NIWBQR”, he explained.

To access the emetric report, following the following steps:
- Click on the this link for the RF quality of the LTE service provided by the four major network operators.
By subscribing to our public Emetrics platform, mobile network operators in Nigeria can make the quality of their LTE networks visible to the public in all covered areas.
The UE log for the current study and all others are available at our proprietary emetrics platform.
This allows interested mobile network operators to enhance the performance of their network using the data we have already collected.
