At the forefront of Paga’s transformative purpose of making life possible, is the need to give back more and more to society.
This is why the Africa’s leading mobile money company that is building an ecosystem to enable people to digitally send and receive money, and creating simple financial products, decided to launch a CSR project called ForHer with its first-ever donation going to Women Impacting Nigeria.
The first annual ForHer campaign is geared towards raising funds for an organization focused on driving gender equality today.
Paga said these groups were selected because their activities align closely with the 2022 International Women’s Month theme “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow”, recognizing the contribution of women and girls around the world, who are leading the charge on climate change adaptation, mitigation, and response, to build a more sustainable future for all.
Commenting on the initiative, Daniel Oparison, Paga’s head of Brand Strategy and Marketing, said “The achievement of gender equality and women’s empowerment by business is fundamental to building a sustainable future that leaves no one behind. To get the world to where it needs to be, we need to empower women. If there was ever any time to provide more visibility for women, it is now and Paga is on a mission to make life possible for all especially women in this month of March”
To arrive at the eligible organisations, an in-house nomination process was organised and three organisations made the shortlist:
1. Women Impacting Nigeria (WIN) is a female-led not-for-profit organisation dedicated to gender equality and empowerment of women founded by Tope Imasekha;
2.Women at Risk International Foundation (WARIF), a non-profit organisation was incorporated in 2016 in response to the high incidence of sexual violence, rape and human trafficking occurring amongst young girls and women across Nigeria, and
3. Geneza School of Training X The Female Designer Movement incorporates the teaching of design thinking principles with hands-on sessions that showcase how the principles are applied in the context of layout, typefaces, and colour.
Speaking to the winner, who emerged after a month-long voting run, Tope Imasekha the founder of WIN said “We believe that women’s human rights, women empowerment and gender equality are critical to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We are committed to ensuring that women and girls are given equal access to health services and a reduction in neonatal and maternal deaths.”
The winner, WIN took home the sum of 2,414,568. Congratulations once again.
