The island nation of Madagascar, one of Africa’s most alluring new technology marketplaces has become home for Axiz, a South African technology distributor, after the firm announced expansion there.
Axiz announced the expansion today stating that a committed local resource had been placed in Madagascar to serve the market. This is a smart move, according to Axiz, in response to the nation’s rising demand for digital solutions.
According to the company, one of the unique features of Madagascar’s tech landscape is its openness to new trends and ideas. The company is eager to take advantage of this by catering to the demands of the local IT community.
While Madagascar’s startup sector is still developing and does not appear in the GSEI 2023 rankings, certain significant startups are reportedly leading the road for innovation in the country.
A small number of industries account for the majority of Madagascar’s GDP, which is less than $12 billion. Due to this circumstance, it is challenging for VCs to find firms that can generate sizable returns on their investments. Hopefully, the recent expansion can improve the quality of the country’s tech and startup ecosystem.
Dell, Lenovo, Microsoft, Oracle, Pure Storage, Veeam, VMware, and Forcepoint are just a few of the companies that Axiz represents.
Axiz’s regional lead, Dhiren Bisnathsing, notes that Madagascar’s technology industry has expanded dramatically in recent years.
While assisting resellers in Madagascar via Axiz Mauritius, Dhiren cited that the firm has seen a growing interest in advanced solutions and innovation.
The distributor’s entry into the region, according to Cheryl Miller, Axiz’s CEO for Africa, is deliberately timed as Madagascar aligns itself more closely with global technological trends.
