Sci-Tech 2023 Announces 10 Million Naira Hackathon for South-South Startups

The SCI-TECH 2023 has announced that the Sci-Tech Hackathon is now a South-South award and is open for startups in Akwa Ibom, Delta, Edo, Cross River, Bayelsa, and Rivers State.

The SCI-TECH 2023 Hackathon is an event organized by the Africa Manufacturing Innovation Hub. The event is designed to inspire, challenge, and empower students from tertiary institutions and youths across Nigeria.

Winners will be incubated by the AMI Hub and will receive 10 million Naira.  The hackathon will focus on startups with hardware, IoT, embedded systems, and software solutions, coming in three phases:

Phase 1: Individuals and teams from the South-South region of Nigeria will apply for the SCI-TECH Hackathon 2023. Their applications will be screened by experts, and the top participants will be selected for the next stage.

Phase 2: The top selected individuals and/or teams will be invited to present their project in person, where experts will assess and review their presentations based on set criteria of innovation and viability.

Phase 3: Selected individuals and/or teams will come to the finals with their projects having gone through mentorship and advisory processes. The winners will be identified and announced by the panel of judges.

The organizers speaking on the event said: “As a cardinal factor to our corporate vision, this SCITECH23 Hackathon will provide opportunities for talent development, innovation, and networking within the technology ecosystem.

“Our combined efforts will yield impactful results that will foster a culture of creativity, innovation, and problem-solving in our society. This hackathon is focused on science and technology and aims to transform academic knowledge into innovative solutions capable of dealing with real-world problems.”
