Apple has announced that it will not launch its new iPhone artificial intelligence features in Europe this year, due to uncertainties related to Brussels’ new competition rules.
The iPhone maker unveiled new AI features two weeks ago, including a partnership with OpenAI, which chief executive Tim Cook described as the company’s “next big step.”
However, the tech giant stated it will delay the launch of “Apple Intelligence” for EU users due to regulatory concerns.
This announcement follows a report by the Financial Times earlier this month that Brussels regulators are preparing to accuse Apple of violating Digital Markets Act (DMA) rules in the coming weeks.
The tech giant and Brussels have been in a regulatory standoff over compliance with these new rules for months. The EU opened a probe in March to investigate whether Apple is undermining competition.
