He made this statement during a keynote address today, Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at the Lagos Employment Summit organized by the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund.

According to Sanwo-Olu, LSETF has also facilitated more than 83,000 access-to-market opportunities and trained over 18,000 young people in industry-relevant skills.

“Over the past year, we have made significant strides in improving the employment landscape. Our unemployment rate has seen significant positive change, thanks to various initiatives and policies aimed at creating jobs and empowering our youth.”

Sanwo-Olu noted that from the outset, the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund has continually made significant contributions to creating employment opportunities.

“LSETF is a key element of our job creation strategy. Since its inception, the fund has generated over 221,000 direct and indirect jobs, facilitated more than 83,000 access-to-market opportunities, and trained over 18,000 young people in industry-relevant skills.”

On the other hand, the Governor launched the Labour Market Information System (LMIS), a platform designed to boost job creation.

“Today, we also launched the Labour Market Information System (LMIS), a platform designed to boost job creation and enhance the job market in Lagos State.

“As we move forward, it is imperative that we continue to unite our efforts. I call on all stakeholders – government agencies, the private sector, civil society, and international partners – to join hands with us in this mission.

“Together, we can create more opportunities, foster greater collaboration, and drive the transformative change that Lagos needs.”
