Highlights
  • Project is supporting ten healthcare centers across Nigeria, covering Lagos, Delta, Imo, and Rivers States.
  • The initiative aims to provide reliable, renewable energy to improve healthcare delivery, particularly in underserved and remote areas.
  • Part of a broader effort to address Nigeria’s healthcare energy challenges and contribute to long-term sustainability in the sector.

Global energy technology company, SLB, has joined forces with ONE Campaign to implement the installation of solar inverters across ten healthcare centers in Lagos, Delta, Imo, and Rivers States, ensuring these facilities benefit from reliable, sustainable energy for uninterrupted patient care.

Representatives from SLB, ONE Campaign, government officials, community leaders, and healthcare professionals celebrated the completion of the project at an official event in Lagos.

This initiative is part of SLB’s global Sustainability Impact Awards program, which empowers local teams worldwide to design, select, and deliver high-impact sustainability projects that deliver tangible value to communities.

ONE Campaign, a global, nonprofit organization, identified the healthcare centers based on their urgent need for reliable energy. With SLB’s support, the ten healthcare centers can now provide consistent, high-quality care.

“Access to sustainable power is essential for healthcare centers to provide uninterrupted, life-saving care,” said Nosa Omorodion, Nigeria country director, SLB. “At SLB, we are committed to delivering impactful, lasting solutions in the communities where we live and work. Through our collaboration with ONE Campaign, we are supporting Nigeria’s healthcare infrastructure, ensuring these centers can provide continuous, reliable service to residents, without disruption. Beyond enhancing the quality of care, we are also contributing to the broader goal of driving the shift towards a cleaner and more sustainable energy future across industries.”

“Ensuring reliable energy for healthcare facilities is crucial for improving healthcare delivery in Nigeria, especially in underserved and remote communities,” added Serah Makka, executive director for Africa, ONE Campaign. “This collaboration with SLB helps provide the foundation for consistent patient care, which is critical for saving lives. Beyond just powering medical equipment, this initiative supports a healthier, more sustainable Africa by incorporating sustainable energy practices into the health sector and transitioning to clean, climate-adaptable solutions.”

According to the World Health Organization, only 40% of healthcare facilities in sub-Saharan Africa have access to reliable access to electricity, highlighting the urgent need for sustainable energy solutions.

By addressing this critical challenge, the partnership between SLB and the ONE Campaign provides healthcare centers with a stable power supply, ensuring the uninterrupted functioning of medical equipment, the safe storage of medicines, and other essential services.

The project reflects SLB’s commitment to sustainability, reinforcing its dedication to driving innovative energy solutions for a balanced planet.

For ONE Campaign, this initiative is a step toward improving lives across Africa, beginning with communities in Nigeria.
