The Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) has signed a direct international mail partnership with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines to provide faster and more reliable mail delivery services to users.
This was disclosed by Tola Odeyemi, the Postmaster-General/CEO of NIPOST, on her X handle. She emphasized the partnership as a major milestone, marking the first collaboration with an international airline aimed at eliminating the inefficiencies that have plagued the organisation.
For years, NIPOST has relied on third parties for international delivery, often leading to delayed packages, higher costs, and uncertainty. The new partnership aims to foster efficient delivery while eradicating the need for middlemen.
Speaking on the advantages of this partnership to users, Odeyemi stated:
“For our clients @Nipostngn, this translates to:
Faster and more reliable delivery
Reduced risk of loss or damage
Lower handling charges
Access to over 200 countries through KLM’s global network.”
Odeyemi highlighted that the deal reflects the organisation’s commitment to clearing longstanding debts owed to international carriers and rebuilding global trust. She added that this is one of many significant partnerships to come.
Additionally, the organisation has begun talks with Ethiopian Airlines to strengthen international and continental logistics while serving African and Eastern routes.
She reiterated NIPOST’s commitment to connecting Nigeria to the global economy through efficient, secure, and affordable services, while encouraging businesses and exporters to leverage this development to reach new markets.
