The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has debunked the activities of individuals and groups claiming to offer loans, grants, or intervention funds on behalf of or endorsed by the bank.

Disclosed in a press statement released by CBN and signed by Sidi Ali Hakama, acting Director of Corporate Communication, dated May 12, 2025, the regulator clarified that it is not associated with any third party issuing financial offers, loans, grants, or contracts on its behalf.

The statement reads: “The CBN wishes to reiterate that it has not authorised, licensed, or appointed any individual, group, or organisation to act as an agent or intermediary in offering contracts, financial grants, or intervention funds to the public. The CBN does not endorse or support such claims in any form.”

The apex bank emphasised that it does not award contracts or disburse funds through emails, phone calls, SMS, WhatsApp, or any social media platform.

Adding that the bank does not request payment of fees in exchange for contracts, grants, or financial intervention, and does not engage third parties in offering financial services to the public.

The regulator highlighted that despite public advisory issued on November 18, 2024, the activities of these misleading schemes have persisted, targeting unsuspecting members of the public.

The CBN urged the public to report any such claims to relevant enforcement agencies or the nearest CBN branch.

The apex bank reaffirmed its commitment to protect the public financial interest and work in collaboration with security agencies to combat fraudulent activities.
