The Enugu State Government has directed all former political appointees in possession of official and diplomatic passports to return them in line with a directive from the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) Headquarters, Abuja.

In a statement signed by Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, the secretary to the State Government (SSG), affected individuals, whose appointments have either been terminated or expired, are required to submit the passports to the SSG’s office at the Government House, Enugu, on or before Friday, September 5, 2025.

According to the statement, the exercise is in strict compliance with immigration regulations and national protocol.

The state government emphasized the urgency of the directive, urging full cooperation from those concerned to ensure a seamless process.

“All affected persons are requested to submit the said passport(s) for onward transmission to the Nigeria Immigration Service, Enugu Command,” the SSG stated.
