Ètò electronic call-up System | by Trucks Transit Park

Ètò electronic call-up system, a home-grown technology developed by Trucks Transit Parks, has successfully connected over three million truck trips since its inception.

With this milestone, Ètò electronic call-up system has drastically reduced gridlock and improved truck turnaround time at the Nigerian ports.

Jámà Ọnwụbụarịrị, managing director, Trucks Transit Parks (TTP) Limited, disclosed these during a media parley on Wednesday.

He stated that the Eto electronic call-up system introduced in 2021 was aimed at eradicating the problems affecting the maritime and logistics industry, such as inefficient cargo evacuation, persistent congestion on access roads, and middlemen distorting pricing, amongst others, and since its launch, it had improved Nigeria’s port efficiency and maritime operations.

“About 2,000 trucks move through our Lagos ports and industrial corridors to pick up and drop off consumer and export cargo. But for over a decade leading up to 2021, this critical artery of trade has been clogged by problems.

“I am proud to say that Eto has changed the narrative. Port roads, once infamous for unending gridlock, are now orderly and predictable. Access to the ports is no longer based on who you know or how rugged your boys are, but on a pre-set, transparent, technology-enabled process,” he said.

Speaking on the TTP’s achievement and its expansion plan, Richard Emenim, head, Corporate development, Truck Transit Parks, noted that the cost of moving cargo has reduced by 65% since 2021, turnaround time for port-bound trucks, which typically takes between two  to three weeks, now takes two to three days, including the introduction of direct fund payments to improve transparency and ease of payments.

Richard stressed that the TTP expansion plan involves building a logistics hub that provides gated facilities along major routes where truck drivers can stop after long hours of driving to rest, refuel their trucks, use recreational facilities, and drop cargo, with everything digitized, allowing drivers to pre-determine their stopovers, providing well-improved travel stations for trucks and travellers.
