Recently, there has been a significant drop in prices across several major tech product categories and services in Nigeria.

These price drops are noteworthy as consumers prepare for the year-end shopping season.

Recent reports show that Nigeria’s smartphone market fell by about 7% in Q1 2025. This may be due to more attractive pricing as brands, especially budget-focused ones, compete for market share.

For example, budget smartphone listings in Nigeria now show more models priced under N150,000, telling us of the downward pressure on entry-level prices. The laptop market is also experiencing this price-drop trend.

In the gadget market, some reports indicate that due to the naira’s stronger position, several devices, including laptops, tablets, and speakers, are starting to decrease in price after months of steep increases.

At the same time, smartphone prices on major e-commerce platforms have dropped by more than half over recent years, driven by brands producing Africa-specific models.

If you’ve been waiting to upgrade your phone, now may be the right time. This brief guide highlights tech products that have recently seen significant price reductions.

Recent Price Changes for Smartphones

Smartphone models in the Nigerian market are now more affordable, even with essential features included. Below are some top models with interesting price drops:

  • Samsung Galaxy A25 5G: A recent listing shows a special price of around N234,500 (regular price ≈ N384,500) at retailers like SLOT.
  • Xiaomi Redmi A5: Listed among the best budget smartphones in Nigeria for 2025, now in the N110,000–N130,000 range, a big reduction from previous prices.
  • Tecno POP 10: On Jumia Nigeria, this model appears in early “Black Friday” listings around N101,036 (with an 8% discount shown).
  • Xiaomi Redmi Note 12: Current listings on Jumia show this model around N304,999, down from as high as N400,000 (~24% off).

Recent Price Changes for Laptops

Laptop deals in Nigeria are also showing slight but meaningful price reductions on several platforms and in physical stores.

Early-bird deals for the 2025 Black Friday season have already begun on major e-commerce platforms. Whether for study, work, or general productivity, laptops are becoming more affordable than they were earlier in the year.

  • HP EliteBook 840 G5: Listed at around N480,000, down from N500,000 for the Core i7/16 GB/512 GB version. Discounts are available on platforms like Jumia and Bfixtech.
  • Dell Latitude 7490: Listed on Jumia Nigeria at about N415,200 (down from ~N600,000) for a 512 GB SSD/16 GB RAM/Core i5 configuration.
  • ASUS Vivobook Go 14″: A more budget-friendly model listed at about N318,250 (around 13% off) for a 4 GB/512 GB version.
  • Dell Latitude 5300 (i5/16GB/512GB): Listed at N450,000, down from N790,000, about a 44% discount on platforms like Jumia.

Conclusion: What Shoppers Should Know

With these announcements in mind, here are a few practical tips to make the most of them:

  • Act quickly, but wisely: A price drop is a great opportunity to buy at a lower cost, but it may also mean limited stock or a short-term offer.
  • Compare across categories and retailers: A deal may look attractive on one platform, but you might find a better offer elsewhere.
  • Check product details: Ensure the item still has a valid warranty, comes from an authorised seller, and matches your specifications (e.g., model, region).

In summary, the recent price-drop announcements across tech products in Nigeria present real buying opportunities. By staying informed and comparing carefully, you can turn these updates into genuine savings.
