After four years leading the business, Richard Yego will step down as Chief Executive Officer of MTN MoMo Uganda at the end of February 2026, to pursue other professional opportunities.
Richard has played an important role in building and shaping MTN MoMo Uganda during a key phase in its development, contributing to the growth and strengthening of the business.
Commenting on the transition, Serigne Dioum, CEO of MTN Group Fintech, said:

Effective 1 March 2026, Sarah Bateta Okwi, currently the Chief Financial Officer of MTN MoMo Uganda, will assume the role of Acting Chief Executive Officer.
Sarah brings strong financial and operational experience, deep knowledge of the business, and a respected track record in the financial services sector.
In her role as CFO, Sarah has been instrumental in driving key strategic and financial initiatives that have supported MTN MoMo Uganda’s growth and operational resilience.
Prior to this, Sarah held the role of Senior Manager: Finance Operations at MTN Rwanda, consistently delivering strategic, operational, and financial results.
Sarah holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Accounting from Makerere University Business School, and is a FCCA, CPA(U).
