Realme C83 5G has officially joined the company’s budget smartphone lineup, bringing a large battery, high refresh-rate display and 5G connectivity to the entry-level segment.
The new device shows the strategy of Realme to strengthen its presence in price-sensitive markets, where it competes with brands such as TECNO, Infinix and itel.
First launched in India on March 7, shortly after the annual Mobile World Congress 2026, the smartphone came with a starting retail price of about $149 depending on the configuration.
Although the phone debuted in Asia, devices in this category typically reach African markets shortly after launch through retail distributors and online sellers. In Nigeria, the Realme C83 5G is expected to sell between ₦180,000 and ₦210,000, depending on storage configuration and import costs.
Realme says the device is designed to meet growing demand for affordable smartphones that combine long battery life with modern connectivity.
While it is not built to compete with mid-range devices, the phone targets students, first-time smartphone users and everyday users who need a reliable device for basic tasks.
The combination of 5G connectivity, a high refresh-rate display and a large battery stresses Realme’s focus on providing future-ready features at an entry-level price.

Performance and Battery
One of the biggest highlights of the Realme C83 5G is its 7,000mAh Titan battery, which is way larger than the 5,000mAh batteries commonly found in most budget smartphones.
The larger battery could allow the device to last up to two days on a single charge, depending on usage patterns. That extra capacity may help offset the higher power demand from the phone’s 144Hz refresh-rate display and 5G connectivity.
For everyday users, this means the phone should comfortably handle common activities such as streaming videos, browsing social media, messaging and general internet use without frequent charging.
Another feature is 5G support, which is still relatively rare among smartphones in the same price range. The inclusion of 5G allows the device to connect to faster mobile networks where coverage is available.
However, the device does come with a few compromises typical of entry-level smartphones.
The 13MP rear camera is suitable for casual photography but lacks the versatility seen on some competing models. In comparison, devices such as the Samsung Galaxy A06 offer similar price positioning with alternative camera and hardware trade-offs.
The phone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset, a processor that has appeared in earlier budget devices, including Realme models released around 2024. While the chip is capable of handling everyday apps and light gaming, it does not represent a major jump in performance.
The Realme C83 5G focuses on practicality rather than premium performance. It combines 5G connectivity, a 144Hz display and a large 7,000mAh battery to deliver key features that are essential to everyday users.
For buyers looking for an affordable smartphone with long battery life and reliable performance for daily tasks, the Realme C83 5G could be a reasonable option once it reaches the Nigerian market.
