Doris Anite-Uzoka, minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning

Doris Anite-Uzoka has officially assumed office as Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning, signaling a renewed push toward achieving a $1 trillion economy by 2030.

On her first day in office, Anite-Uzoka was received by the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, marking the beginning of what she described as a critical phase in Nigeria’s economic transformation journey.

Speaking during her assumption of duty, the Minister underscored the central role of the private sector in driving national growth.

According to her, while the government is responsible for providing a stable policy environment and strategic direction, the bulk of economic expansion, estimated at 95%, will be powered by innovators, entrepreneurs, and industry players.

Anite-Uzoka also highlighted her commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s budgeting framework and ensuring that the 2026–2030 National Development Plan becomes a catalyst for investment, improved security, and infrastructure development.

Her appointment comes at a time when Nigeria is seeking to accelerate economic growth, deepen reforms, and attract both domestic and foreign investments to meet its long-term development targets.
