Galaxy A57 vs A37

Galaxy A57 and A37

Samsung has just launched the Galaxy A57 and A37 confirming several weeks of rumours and speculations from consumers worldwide.

This new addition to the Galaxy “A” series is a big moment for the mid-range smartphone market and Samsung as it represents the company’s most important lineup globally, selling far more than many flagship series.

In the buildup to this double launch, several reports and leaks hinted at Samsung’s direction towards stronger performance, deeper AI integration, and longer software support through its in-house chips.

However, beyond this, the features of these devices show something much bigger: Samsung is pushing more premium features down into their mid-range models.

Samsung Galaxy A57 Performance Overview

Samsung’s Galaxy A57 is clearly positioned as a refinement of the previous A56, with a superior chipset and GPU, alongside an estimated 42% increase in Neural Processing performance.

With up to 12GB RAM, the A57 is designed to better handle heavy apps and background processes without lag.

Samsung still retained the 50MP main camera sensor from the previous A56, but image processing is expected to improve due to software upgrades rather than new hardware. Its key features include:

  • New Exynos 1680 chip (better performance)
  • Slimmer, lighter design
  • Premium build (metal + Gorilla Glass Victus+)
  • Up to 12GB RAM / high storage options
  • Same 50MP main camera, but improved processing
  • IP68 water & dust resistance

Estimated Cost: $549

Samsung Galaxy A37 Performance Overview

The Galaxy A37, on the other hand, is designed to strike balance between affordability and efficiency. It comes with a plastic frame, unlike A57’s metal frame, and runs on the Exynos 1480, an older chip compared to A57’s Exynos 1680, but still a great mid-range processor for power efficiency, stable everyday performance and moderate gaming.

It still delivers above satisfactory performance for the typical smartphone user, from social networking to streaming and multitasking. For its price, it’s a great phone that meets up with the Samsung standard. The key features are:

  • Exynos 1480 chip
  • Plastic build (still looks decent)
  • Same 50MP main camera as Galaxy A57
  • Bright AMOLED display
  • More affordable pricing tier

Estimated Cost: $449

Similarities Between the Galaxy A57 and A37

Although they are both clearly different devices when it comes to performance and affordability, they still share some similarities, and some of these similarities have been repeated across Samsung’s entire A series for years now, like the 5000mAh battery capacity.

Some of the most noticeable carryovers include:

  • Same 50MP primary camera setup
  • 5000mAh battery capacity
  • 7-inch AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate
  • Same new AI features (Circle to Search, AI transcription, smarter assistant)
  • Android 16 and One UI 8.5
  • Up to 6 years of software updates

These are not entirely bad features. In fact, they are quite strong, but they still highlight Samsung’s refinement strategy rather than reinvention.

The launch of the Galaxy A57 and A37 leans more towards careful evolution, not radical change. Looking closely, Samsung is focused on:

  • Refining performance rather than completely changing it
  • Bringing AI and long-term software support into their mid-range devices
  • Maintaining familiar hardware while improving the user experience through software

These phones launched first in India, followed by other global markets like the U.S. on April 9.

India has always been the first market for the A series due to its scale, with over 100 million units sold, and shift from budget devices premium mid-range options.

For Nigeria, which represents the biggest market for the A series in West Africa, these phones are expected to hit major retailers in the country as early as next week.
