Logistics service provider, Droppa, has raised an undisclosed amount of Series A funding from SkyNet Worldwide Express.

The capital will help in the expansion of Droppa’s operation beyond current reach and strengthen its strategies to satisfy customers’ needs.

From courier service to fleet and rental services, the South Africa transportation startup has been in partnership with SkyNet since July 2020. This gave the startup’s customers access to SkyNet’s courier services, while SkyNet was able to utilise Droppa’s large vehicle fleet to heighten its capacity and enhance its services.

This relationship between the startup and SkyNet kicked off after Droppa’s radio announcement seeking partnership with a logistics giant. SkyNet happened to gain interest and contacted the company.

“Having gone to Radio 702 and requested for a logistics giant to partner with Droppa, this initiative caught the attention of a SkyNet executive, who then made contact and we thus began the journey, which has grown stronger over the past two years.

“Droppa is looking forward to expanding its wings – the investment will be used to accelerate our growth prospects nationwide and gear up for the international rollout of Droppa through the SkyNet network.” Khathutshelo Mufamadi, Founder and CEO of Droppa.

While Droppa affirms to have over 1,000 registered drivers, SkyNet has over 35 courier hubs across South Africa, with 200 countries leveraging its services globally. Both companies have similar drive to impact the focus sector effectively and efficiently.

Tommy Erasmus, CEO at SkyNet notes his excitement about the investment in Droppa. He says this will help drive further business growth for both parties and allow continuous innovative business solutions that benefit customers.
