The Economic Community of West Africa (ECOWAS) has received community levy payments totaling US$100,324,011.33 from the Federal Government of Nigeria just this year.
This was stated during the presentation of the Nigeria country report by the Nigerian delegation to the ongoing Second Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Parliament.
Ahmed Idris Wase, the deputy speaker of the House of Representatives and the delegation’s leader, said that Nigeria has sent the ECOWAS Commission $100,324,011.33 so far this year.
The government, he continued, was committed to meeting its financial commitments to ECOWAS, and preparations were being made to pay the year’s remaining amount.
The Economic Community of West African States is a regional political and economic union of fifteen countries located in West Africa. Collectively, these countries comprise an area of 5,114,162 km², and in 2015 had an estimated population of over 349 million.
