Nigerian actor Deyemi Okanlawon’s directorial debut, “All’s Fair in Love,” has become a huge hit in Nigerian cinemas, raking in N10.4 million in just 48 hours of its premiere, making it the highest-grossing rom-com in the country within that time frame.

The storyline of “All’s Fair in Love” revolves around the complexities of relationships between two Nigerian business partners and friends, portrayed by Deyemi Okanlawon and Timini Egbuson, who find themselves vying for the affection of the same woman, played by Buhle Samuels. 

Beyond the captivating storyline and relatable characters, the film’s success lies in its masterful execution. Okanlawon’s directing ability comes from the well-paced portrayal and the natural chemistry between the leads. The supporting cast, including Ireti Doyle and Juliet Ibrahim, adds depth and humor to the film.

The movie includes a talented casts such as Ireti Doyle, Juliet Ibrahim, Adedimeji Lateef, Beauty Tukura, Venita Akpofure, Kunle Bamtefa, Gbubemi Ejeye, Kenzy Udonsenm, Oprah Okereke, Timilehin Ojeola, further enriching the cinematic experience with excellent performance of diverse characters.

In an interview preceding the film’s release, Deyemi Okanlawon spoke about his excitement about presenting audiences with a special Valentine’s gift through “All’s Fair in Love.” 

He noted the importance of offering viewers a respite from life’s challenges, particularly in light of the recent global events, and positioned the film as a source of joy and entertainment for Nigerian audiences.

Okanlawon is continuously exploring his creative capabilities within the Nigerian film industry, showing in his growth from acting to directing and producing.

Despite being a seasoned actor for over a decade, his venture into directing reiterates a new insight and skill, pushing him into more artistic aspects.

Reflecting on his journey in the industry, Okanlawon candidly shared his perspective on awards and recognition, revealing that while he has not received accolades for his acting, he remains focused on sharpening his skills and delivering impactful performances. 

“All’s Fair in Love” is a great step in Okanlawon’s career indicating a promising direction for the Nollywood industry.
