Over the years, we’ve had our hands on numerous laptops designed primarily for work, delivering outstanding performance coupled with portability and occasionally equipped with specialized features to streamline tasks.
ASUS has once again raised the bar with the Zenbook Duo 2024 (UX8406) OLED. This isn’t just another laptop; it’s a glimpse into the future of AI-powered creativity.
At its core lies the Intel Meteor Lake processor, an innovative chip that integrates a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) designed to accelerate AI tasks.
This means faster video editing, enhanced communication, and a more intuitive computing experience.
But the Zenbook Duo 2024 isn’t just about raw power; it’s about reimagining how we interact with technology.
Its dual-screen design, paired with intuitive software, offers a canvas for boundless creativity and productivity. In this article, we provide a first-hand look and conduct a thorough analysis on its functionality.
Zenbook Duo OLED (2024) UX806 Features
As evident from the specifications table of the Asus Zenbook Duo OLED (UX806), this laptop features the latest and most robust Intel processor designed for laptops; Intel Core Ultra 9 with Neural Processing Unit (NPU) for AI computing.
This powerhouse integrates a total of 16 physical cores, comprising 6 high-performance cores, 8 efficiency cores, and 2 low-power LPE cores, delivering 22 processing threads at a blistering maximum speed of 5.1 GHz.
Additionally, the system harnesses the graphics prowess of the integrated Intel Arc, boasting 8 X-Cores operating at 2.35 GHz. Enhancing the processor, is the 32GB LPDDR5X RAM at 5,600 MHz and a PCIe 4.0 SSD with 1 TB capacity.
In terms of connectivity, the ASUS Zenbook Duo has a USB 3.2 Type-A port, two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C, an HDMI 2.1 output and a combo minijack audio connector, in addition to WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3.
The best part of the Zenbook Duo UX806 device is its equal 14 inches 3K OLED dual display, with one located in the usual place and the other under the keyboard with HDR True Black 500, 120Hz refresh rate and 0.2ms response time.
What’s in the Box?
The Asus Zenbook Duo OLED 2024 (UX806) is packaged in a compact rigid cardboard box and discreet neutral aesthetics, where the model and basic specifications are barely shown.
Inside the box, we have the laptop device, along with another box of accessories including Asus Stylus 2.0 Pen, 65W power adapter and a carrying bag, plus the user manual from Asus.
Stunning:
The case included with the laptop is rigid, soft to the outside and even softer on the inside, it appears to be of very good quality. It is designed to store the laptop (it is custom made) and has a rubber band to insert the Stylus if you want.
The included Stylus is the ASUS Pen 2.0 that we have already seen in other laptops, an accessory that ASUS includes in almost all of its high-end equipment that has a touch screen.
Stunning OLED Displays
The Zenbook Duo 2024 (UX8406) OLED is equipped with two equal 14-inch OLED displays with 16:10 aspect ratio, 3K (2880 x 1800) resolution, 550-nits peak brightness, 120 Hz refresh rate, 0.2ms response time, VESA Certified HDR True Black 500 and PANTONE validation.
Both displays are multitouch-enabled and have a glossy surface. OLED displays prioritize image quality, and anti-glare surfaces can negatively impact colour saturation, contrast, and viewing angles.
Therefore, OLED displays typically do not have anti-glare coatings.
This OLED display is one of the finest and most advanced one available today in the consumer laptop category.
Built for Multitaskers
The Zenbook Duo (2024) UX8406 is designed for seamless multitasking, offering several modes to optimize productivity and creativity:
Dual-Screen Mode: This mode unlocks the full potential of the dual displays. Users can run multiple applications side-by-side, drag and drop content between screens, and create custom layouts for their workflow.
Laptop Mode: In this mode, the Zenbook Duo functions like a traditional laptop, with one screen serving as the main display and the other acting as an extended workspace or housing the keyboard.
Desktop Mode: By detaching the keyboard and using the integrated kickstand, the Zenbook Duo transforms into a desktop setup. This mode is ideal for presentations, content creation, or when a larger viewing area is desired.
The ScreenXpert 2.0 software enhances these modes by providing intuitive features like App Navigator, Task Swap, and Window Snap, which make it easier to manage and organize applications across both screens.
Additionally, the Zenbook Duo‘s touchpad features a built-in ScreenPad Plus, offering quick access to frequently used tools and applications. This further streamlines multitasking and enhances the overall user experience.
Overall, the Zenbook Duo (2024) UX8406’s advanced multitasking capabilities and versatile modes make it an ideal tool for professionals, creatives, and anyone who seeks to maximize their productivity and efficiency.
