Senator Kashim Shettima, the Vice President of Nigeria, met with Mr. Ralph Mupita, MTN Group CEO/President, on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in Sandton, South Africa.

Techeconomy can report that also in attendance was Ambassador Muhammad Haruna Manta, the Nigerian Ambassador to South Africa.

The discussion between the VP and Ralph centered on topics relating to ongoing reforms by the government and other areas of mutual interest, including digital education, e-agriculture and the MTN Nigeria investor roadshow to be held on November 23 in Abuja.

They also chatted on the role that MTN continues to play in supporting the accelerated development of the digital economy in Nigeria.

“Ralph reiterated MTN Nigeria’s continued support for Nigeria’s socio-economic development directly and through the CSI initiatives spearheaded by the MTN Foundation”, a source at the meeting told Techeconomy.

MTN Nigeria through the MTN Foundation, recently announced the launch of the sixth phase of ICT and Business skills training program for 3000 young entrepreneurs, in partnership with Microsoft and Meta.

The five-week virtual training will cover topics like – entrepreneurship in the digital age, ICT for business success and new generative AI skills. Participants will also gain skills to build and grow their businesses online.

There is also an additional benefit of a 90-million-naira equipment grant for the top 300 participants at the end of the program.
