Dream VC, a leading venture capital institute and corporate venture capital (CVC) practice, had announced the public launch of the KMBC Ultimate Wildcard Test, a new psycho-personality quiz designed to assess leadership and entrepreneurial personalities for startup founders around the world.

This innovative tool is tailored for startup founders, aspiring entrepreneurs, managers, and business leaders seeking to gain deeper insights into their leadership styles, motivations, and growth areas around entrepreneurial and intrapreneurial decisions.

KMBC Ultimate Wildcard Test

Developed through an extensive assessment of five prominent psychological models, including MBTI and other leadership and entrepreneurial frameworks, the KMBC Ultimate Wildcard Test categorises individuals into four distinct founder archetypes:

  • King Founder – Focused on long-term sustainability, controlling decisions, and legacy-building.
  • Merchant Founder – Driven by profitability, capturing market opportunities, and financial success.
  • Builder Founder – Motivated by innovation processes, overcoming challenges, and creating new solutions.
  • Celebrity Founder – Prioritizes social recognition, public perception, and personal branding.

The quiz comprises 55 carefully curated questions covering critical areas such as Motivation, Productivity, Delegation, Leadership, Sales, and Creativity. Each response helps shape a unique profile, offering practical insights for self-reflection and personal development.

Why This Test Matters

In the dynamic startup ecosystem, founders often become so engrossed in building their ventures that they overlook how their personality impacts their team and business outcomes.

The KMBC Test is designed to help leaders step back, understand their entrepreneurial mindset, and identify key areas for growth. Beyond self-reflection, the tool also serves as a complementary resource for investors conducting due diligence, providing valuable insights into a founder’s leadership approach.

As such, the KMBC Test will be a useful tool for the venture capital and corporate venture capital communities to better understand the founders they want to invest in or have already invested in. It helps investors see founders’ priorities, empathise with their leadership styles, and support them in becoming more well-rounded leaders and can show the different motivations leaders have over time.

“At Dream VC, we believe that understanding one’s leadership style is crucial for entrepreneurial success. The KMBC Ultimate Wildcard Test is not just a personality quiz; it’s a mirror reflecting the core traits that shape how founders lead, grow, make decisions, and inspire their teams to do the impossible,” said Mark Kleyner, co-CEO at Dream VC and a project lead on the research team behind the KMBC Test.

“While rooted in global research, the test is uniquely enriched by insights from over 40 African startup ecosystems in North, East, West, Central and Southern Africa, developed with the support of Content Krush to ensure cultural and strategic relevance.

The archetypes emerged from extensive conversations with venture capital investors, impact investors, and private equity investors, as well as active discussions within the Dream VC alumni community. This blend ensures that the tool is not just globally applicable but deeply attuned to the realities of diverse entrepreneurial landscapes,” Kleyner added.

Availability

The KMBC Ultimate Wildcard Test is now available online and is free to take. Founders, aspiring entrepreneurs, and business leaders worldwide are encouraged to take the quiz, reflect on their results, and use the insights to enhance their leadership journeys.

After completing the quiz, participants will receive a unique URL link summarizing their results, including key strengths and areas for improvement. This personalized feedback not only aids in immediate self-reflection but also allows founders to retake the quiz in the future to track their growth and assess how they have evolved as more well-rounded leaders.
