The Ecobank Group, Thursday, announced the beginning of the 5th Ecobank Fintech Challenge and invited African Fintech entrepreneurs to participate in the event.

The competition gives mature and early-stage start-ups the chance to collaborate with Ecobank in 33 African nations. The deadline for applications is September 16.

The bank stated that fintechs that support its “strategic objectives” are eligible for a total cash award of $50,000 and the possibility to partner with and scale their products across Ecobank’s 33 African markets.

Fintech companies and developers originating from any of Africa’s 54 countries, as well as global Africa-centered Fintechs, are eligible to enter the Fintech Challenge by visiting: https://bit.ly/3KnrDz2.

Following the finals and awards ceremony in October 2022, ten finalists will be welcomed into the Ecobank Fintech Fellowship.

In addition, all fellows will qualify to explore the following opportunities with the Bank and its partners:

  1. Multinational products roll out: an opportunity to pursue integration with Ecobank and potentially launch products in all or part of Ecobank’s pan-African 33-country ecosystem.
  2. Service provider partnerships: Ecobank may select some Fintechs as pan-African service partners within the Bank’s ecosystem.
  3. Access to Ecobank’s Pan-African Banking Sandbox: Fellows will be given access to Ecobank’s APIs to test and improve their products for the pan-African market.
