The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) said it will be embarking on massive disconnection of it customers over indebtedness.
According to a statement from the company, EEDC admonished customers to pay their electricity bill promptly.
“Consequently, customers are advised to promptly pay their electricity bills before the disconnection team gets to their premises, as failure to do so will attract a reconnection fee in addition to the outstanding amount.
“Customers can pay their bills at the EEDC Cash Offices or any collection agent location nearest to them, and they must not wait for the Marketers to visit before they can pay their bills.
“It is expected that the current electricity bill, which is for energy consumed in the previous month is paid by the 12th day of the succeeding month, and customers that have arrears should endeavor to clear their bills or take advantage of our ongoing discount scheme – ASAP.
“Pay your bills promptly and on time and save yourself the inconveniences of being disconnected or surcharged.
“EEDC can only sustain its operations and service to its esteemed customers when electricity bills are paid.

Earlier in the year, the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) issued a disconnection notice to state governments, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) offices, Nigerian Army, among other parastatals and companies over N180 billion electricity debt.
Notifying customers about outstanding electricity bills in the south-east region, he said the company will commence the disconnection of electricity supply to defaulters from June 10.
Ezeh said the electricity defaulters include Enugu, Ebonyi, Anambra, Abia and Imo state governments, as well as Innoson Technical & Industries, University of Nigeria (Enugu and Nsukka campuses), and the Nigerian Bottling Company Ltd.
Others on the list are the Nigerian Police Force, Nigerian Airforce, Navy, Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Ebonyi State University, Coal Corporation quarters, and federal secretariat and establishment.
“We are also disconnecting GMO Rubber Division; Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka; Ebonyi State Government’s Ecumenical Centre One; Nigeria Prisons Training School; CBN offices; M/S Concorde Hotel, Owerri and Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki,” Ezeh said.
