The Fintech Association of Nigeria (FintechNGR) successfully concluded its 6th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on June 27, 2023.
The event brought together distinguished attendees, including members of the Board of Trustees and Governing Council as well as prominent figures from the fintech ecosystem.
FintechNGR, the premier national fintech association in Africa, remains committed to accelerating fintech growth, fostering innovation, and advocating for regulatory reforms in Nigeria’s dynamic fintech landscape.
With over 2580 corporate and 117 professional members spanning across 21 sectors of the economy, including banking, fintechs, incubation and acceleration, ICT, AgricTech, EdTech, HealthTech, and insurance, FintechNGR continues to shape the future of the fintech industry in Nigeria.
During the AGM, Ade Bajomo, President of FinTechNGR, addressed the esteemed members, expressing gratitude for their dedication, selflessness, and contributions to the association’s exponential growth over the past six years.
The President emphasized the association’s commitment to achieving its three-pronged mandate of accelerating, connecting, and advocating for the fintech ecosystem.
Financially, FintechNGR showcased its strength and resilience, with gross revenue reaching N190,551,861.00 while reserves grew to N80.6 million, highlighting its financial stability.
Membership growth has been remarkable, as FintechNGR expanded from 56 members in 2018 to an impressive 375 members in 2022. The association represents sectors in the Nigerian economy, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing among its members.
Throughout the year, FintechNGR spearheaded various initiatives to promote innovation and advance the fintech ecosystem.
These activities included engaging regulators through the Reguvator Forum, training insurance practitioners on InsurTech, collaborating with global fintech festivals, executing a tripartite agreement on Fintech Certification with CIBN and FSI, and organizing the successful Nigeria Fintech Week 2022.
Looking ahead, FintechNGR aims to build on the success of the Nigeria Fintech Week and deliver a world-class event in 2023.
By strengthening strategic relationships with regulators, developing talent through capacity-building programs, and collaborating with local and global stakeholders, the association strives to drive economic development and digital inclusion through fintech solutions.
The AGM concluded with a commitment to intensify advocacy efforts and foster collaboration with regulators.
FintechNGR aims to strengthen its Reguvator Forum, working closely with regulators to co-develop policies and frameworks that support the growth and innovation of the fintech industry.
