The Test cases to be conducted in Minna and Offa
The Federal University of Technology, Minna, (FUTMinna), Nigeria and a consortium of global academic partners, companies, and associated partners have been awarded a 1.145 million Euro grant from Horizon Europe 2021-2027 Grant.
The consortium, comprised of six European academic partners, five companies, and five African academic groups, will collaborate on the Rural Environmental Monitoring via ultra wide-ARea networKs And distriButed federated Learning (REMARKABLE) project.
The REMARKABLE project aims to research, develop, innovate, and demonstrate five use cases with six demonstration sites located in rural areas across Europe and Africa.
It will focus on addressing the challenge of bringing IoT and data analytics systems closer to seamless, energy-efficient, and secure deployment in rural areas around the world.
Led by Professor Abiodun Musa Aibinu, the Vice-Chancellor/Chief Executive and Academic Office, Summit University, Offa, Kwara State, Nigeria, the FUTMinna team will explore the application of some of the aforementioned cases at selected sites in Minna and Offa, Nigeria.
The project’s outputs, such as smart IoT sensors and devices, rural IoT digital twining platforms, ultra wide-area IoT networks, novel data analytics models, and architectures, will be brought to the market through active industrial partners and collaborations.
The REMARKABLE project is poised to make a significant impact on the workforce markets in Europe and Africa.
The project brings together 16 partners from 10 different countries, which positions it to disrupt the global market.
The project’s focus on developing new interdisciplinary skills for young contributors and establishing long-lasting networks of European and African institutions in sensing, IoT, big data analytics, and rural entrepreneurship will contribute to this disruption.
