Khalil Halilu, the executive vice chairman/chief executive officer (EVC/CEO) of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), has assured the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) that the Agency would deliver on its mandate of transforming Nigeria’s technology and innovation landscape.

The EVC/CEO stated this at the opening ceremony of a two-day staff training of NASENI by the Bureau, led by Mr. Dasuki Arabi, its director-general, for the mandatory deployment of Self-Assessment Tools (SAT) for service delivery at the Agency’s Headquarters in Abuja, on Monday January 12, 2023.

Halilu reaffirmed the commitment of the Agency in fulfilling its mandate by maintaining a steadfast focus on NASENI 3Cs principles of Collaboration, Creation, and Commercialization through harnessing the power of technology, human skills and talents to deliver remarkable benefits to Nigeria on multiple fronts.

According to EVC/CEO, in order to carry out NASENI’s Mandate effectively, it is crucial to conduct a thorough assessment of the performances in line with best practices. “This tool enables organizations to evaluate themselves comprehensively, gaining insights into how effectively they are meeting their goals.

“BPSR has employed a participatory focus group approach as the methodology for this tool, making it accessible to individuals across all levels of the Public Service,” he said, while encouraging all participants to give their undivided attention and make the most use of the opportunity for self-assessment and growth.

He said NASENI stands to gain significant advantages from the implementation of SAT by identifying its strengths and areas for improvement, enhancing professional practices, encouraging partnerships with esteemed organizations, creating opportunities to celebrate growth, developmental achievements, and skill acquisition, among other benefits.

In his remarks, Mr. Arabi said BPSR initiated the tools for Self-Assessment, monitoring and evaluation of reforms in Ministries, Agencies and Departments (MDAs) of the Federal Government for effective service delivery.

While buttressing on the mandates and directives of the Federal Government to BPSR to carry out reforms on all the MDAs, he noted that SAT is for the purpose of planning, accountability and management of public funds and to ensure that the system is corrupt-free especially in financial transactions.

He, however, called on NASENI as a Government Agency to embrace SAT in all its dealings and ensure that they own their work to deliver effectively as the EVC/CEO is only in the system to guide them.
