Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Council has again delivered the dividend of democracy to its people by issuing 12.5 million naira to petty traders and the dualization of a remarkable fifty-four road projects within the community in three years.

Prince Usman Akanbi Hamzat (UAH), the Local Government Council, stated this at a media parley organized recently by his administration where he gave stewards of his administration in the last three years and subsequently set the pace for other benefits of his administration.

According to him, “our administration embarked on a total of 81 major infrastructural projects within these 36 months in office, signaling an average of 2 projects per month. Of these, our administration also completed a total of 38 road projects with 16 ongoing i.e. 70% of roads completed.

“It shows we completed 1 road project per month on average over the past 36 months. This sums up to a total of 54 road projects, the highest any administration ever did in Ifako-Ijaiye.

He stressed that his administration reached out to 7,639 residents at 55 different centers within 24 months of commencement. This signals that an average of 300 Ifako-Ijaiye residents were benefiting from this Free Health program monthly.

Giving more insights, Prince Akanbi,  the people serving Ifako-Ijaye chairman noted, that his administration has worked assiduously in raising the standard of women in the local government through the training of 800 women in business management and financial literacy program.

“Our administration is working assiduously to raise a standard of Women’s Affairs and Poverty Alleviation. In line with the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (5) which borders on ‘achieving Gender equality and empowering all Women and Girls’, we have also been able to improve the welfare of women and the general welfare in Ifako Ijaiye Local Government.

On environmental health services, he said; “Incessant desilting of over 20 drainages within Ifako Ijaiye LGA,  disinfestation, decontamination and derivatization of Primary Health Care Centers, Area Offices, Council Headquarters, and Markets quarterly, removal of refuse from black spots, regularly

Others are: evacuating of refuse/ waste and overgrown weeds for all Primary Schools within Ifako Ijaiye LGA, regular, detection of environmental nuisances of public health importance and abatement of same, bioremediation of polluted environment at Ogundimu Area,  annual Tree Planting to reduce the effect of Global Warming treatment of source of water among others.

The relentless Akanbi said “After a few days in office, our administration opens partnership talks and offers collaboration with numbers of friendly and supportive Non-Governmental Organizations [NGOs] to accelerate development, over entrepreneurial skills, and technical exchange, for a prosperous and greater Ifako Ijaiye.

The administration in its forward-looking gaits corroborates with some A-list foundations in furtherance of its commitment “Some of the NGOs are: STALLION AUTO KEKE LTD, Microsoft, Adara Foundation, Tech4Dev, YouLead Africa, MEADE Company for sports development, and German Corporation [GIZ].

“From the aforementioned, Our administration had successfully empowered more than 4,500 residents with a series of empowerment Initiative beneficiaries with issuance of startup funds and empowerment tools.

“One of the cores of the H.E.E.D.S Agenda is placing value on every resident of Ifako-Ijaiye; the young regardless of their gender, and even the aged such that they enjoy specific benefits and subsequently get empowered towards becoming independent and achieving greater heights. Over the past 36 months in review, we organized at least an empowerment program every 2 months on average.

“These massive empowerment initiatives which had never been precedent since the creation of the Local Government were commended by many people both in Ifako-Ijaiye/beyond and earned my office as the Executive Chairman a national award of being the Best Council Chairman in Nigeria on Empowerment in 2023.

Meanwhile, the administration also showcased some landslide achievements  through “the organization of Ifako Ijaiye 1st and 2nd Phase food bank palliative program coordination of Ounje Eko palliative, and sponsoring of farmers to World Food Day celebration in 2021, 2022 and 2023

Not yet done with his commitment to qualitative service, the administration renovated Bishop Oluwole Memorial Primary School with the distribution of a New set of furniture and Arts
